DUBAI, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) -- Transit passengers in Dubai International Airport will be offered temporary visas, a senior official said on Monday.

The visas are given to "most nationalities," said Amer Abdul Raoof, Director of Dubai 10X 2.0, a scheme which aims to reform all 36 governmental departments of Dubai.

Abdul Raoof said so to Xinhua on the sidelines of the ongoing 6th World Government Summit with the topic of "Shaping future governments."

In 2017, the airport defended its position as the world's busiest airport as the hub welcomed 88.2 million passengers, whereas Dubai hosted 15.8 million overnight tourists.

Abdul Raoof introduced that the airport is also installing a "Microcosm of Dubai," which is a virtual reality tour of Dubai's landmarks such as the Burj Khalifa, the Burj Al Arab and the Dubai Mall, the world's biggest shopping mall, by footfall.

The Dubai 10X scheme, launched and supervised by Dubai ruler Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, aims to put the 36 governmental departments 10 years ahead of all other governments in the world in relation to e-governance, service orientation for citizens and visitors, efficiency and transparency.
