MAZAR-E-SHARIF, Afghanistan, June 23 (Xinhua) -- A total of 1,207 youth joined the country's national army on Sunday after completing a 12-week military training course, an army statement said.

"The graduates of the military training center after receiving their certificates would be deployed to restive provinces to provide security for the people," said the statement issued by 209 Shaheen army corps in the city of Mazar-e-Sharif, capital of northern Balkh province.

The commissioning of the newly graduated youths to the national army and their deployment in restive areas will boost the capacity of the Afghan army and enable the security forces to further check subversive activities across the country, the statement said.
