NAIROBI, May 16 (Xinhua) -- Team Kenay going for the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2020 will have a three-week training camp in either Kurume City or Fukuoka in Japan.

A delegation from National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOCK) said Thursday from Kurume City that they have been impressed with the facilities.

Kenya was offered Kurume and Fukuoka City and the officials will pick on one to have their training camp. In 2012 London Games, Team Kenya pitched camp in Bristol City.

Sports Principal Secretary Ambassador Kirimi Kaberia made a proposal for the establishment of the Kenya House in Kurume.

"I propose the establishment of the Kenya House in Kurume and this will be done immediately," said Kaberia.

"The exchange program in the field of sport will benefit Kenya because of Japan's immense technological advancement."

The delegation discussed the partnership including camp duration, accommodation and feeding program during the three-week pre-camp period.

At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Kenya was the highest performing African nation with six gold, six silver and one bronze medals.

NOCK Vice President Shadrack Maluki said they intend to improve in Tokyo.

Kenya hopes that more athletes in disciplines beyond athletics will qualify for the Games. Swimming, boxing, volleyball, rugby sevens, judo and hockey are some of the categories the country hopes to compete in Tokyo. Enditem
