SUVA, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) -- New Zealand's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Winston Raymond Peters arrived in Fiji on Tuesday for a short visit as part of the country's efforts to deepen its relationship with Fiji.

According to a statement by Fiji's Department of Information on Tuesday, Peters, who leads a high-level delegation, will pay a courtesy call to Fiji's President Jioji Konrote and meet with Fiji's Acting Prime Minister and Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed- Khaiyum and Fiji's Minister for Defence, National Security and Foreign Affairs Inia Seruiratu.

New Zealand is a key trade partner for Fiji. Trade between the two countries totalled to around 924.57 million Fijian dollars (about 435.84 million U.S. dollars) in 2017.

New Zealand is also Fijis second largest tourism source market.

After Fiji, Peters will also visit Kiribati on Thursday.
