MOGADISHU, Feb. 7 (Xinhua) -- More than 930 Somali children have resumed their education five months after bomb damaged their schools thanks to rehabilitation works financed by the European Union.

The EU said the two schools - Hassan Qariindi and Hawlwadaag, which reopened on Wednesday, collapsed on Sept. 2, 2018 after the bomb blast left half a dozen children injured.

Fulgencio Garrido Ruiz, the EU Charge D'Affairs to Somalia who attended the official re-opening of the schools in Mogadishu said every child has the right to an education without fear of violence or attack.

"The European Union commits to continue engaging stakeholders in Somalia as partners in the search for solutions to the challenges facing education sector in Somalia," Ruiz said in a statement issued on Wednesday evening.

The EU said it will further support the schools through the provision of scholastic materials, scholarships for girls and training of teachers in addition to the restoration of the schools.
