U.S. dollar rises after Trump's State of the Union address

NEW YORK, Feb. 6 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar rose on Wednesday as investors digested U.S. President Donald Trump's State of the Union address.

Analysts said Trump's repeated call for infrastructure spending could lead to a boost to economic growth.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, was up 0.35 percent at 96.3977 in late trading.

In late New York trading, the euro fell to 1.1363 dollars from 1.1409 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound decreased to 1.2937 dollars from 1.2954 U.S. dollars in the previous session. The Australian dollar was down to 0.7113 dollar from 0.7229 dollar.

The U.S. dollar bought 109.98 Japanese yen, higher than 109.97 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar increased to 1.0025 Swiss francs from 1.0002 Swiss francs, and it was up to 1.3203 Canadian dollars from 1.3144 Canadian dollars.
