BEIJING, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) -- The chief justice and judges for an internet court planned for Beijing were appointed at a session of the 15th Beijing Municipal People's Congress Standing Committee Thursday.

Zhang Wen, 50, was appointed as the chief justice of the first internet court in Beijing. Li Jingwei, Jiang Ying, and She Guiqing were named as deputy chief justices.

Forty others were appointed as judges of the court.

China plans to set up internet courts in Beijing and Guangzhou based on the experience of the internet court in the city of Hangzhou, capital of east China's Zhejiang Province.

China opened its first internet court in Hangzhou last August to cater to the increasing number of online disputes.

The Supreme People's Court and relevant departments of the municipality are making preparations for the internet court in Beijing.

The Higher People's Court of Beijing is in charge of the staffing matters.

With an average age of 40, personnel of the internet court all have more than 10 years of court experience, and over 75 percent of them hold graduate degrees.
