KABUL, July 24 (Xinhua) -- A total of 57 drug-related cases were exposed in Afghanistan within the past one month, authorities said on Tuesday.

"The Counter-Narcotics Police of Afghanistan (CNPA) together with detective Afghan security organization have cracked 57 drug cases, involving 77 people, including one woman and a foreign national, during the Afghan month of Saratan (June 22 to July 22) elsewhere in the country," Counter-Narcotics Criminal Justice Task Force of Afghanistan (CJTF) said in a statement.

The cases were handed over to the Central Narcotics Tribunal (CNT), a special Afghan court for jurisdiction of major drug cases, the statement noted.

Among the drugs and materials found from the suspects were 133 kg heroin, 378 kg opium, 305 kg hashish and 25 kg crystal methamphetamine, the statement added.

The materials confiscating from the suspects were eight different-type vehicles, 58 mobile phones and currencies totaling about 5,750 U.S. dollars.

In addition, the primary and appellant courts of CNT have sentenced 62 suspects from one year and one month up to 16 years imprisonment over the period, the statement said.
