RABAT, June 26 (Xinhua) -- The first annual meeting of the African Platform of Clean Cities opened Tuesday in Morocco's capital Rabat to share best practices to ensure healthy living for African people.

Delegates from over 30 African countries as well as regional and international organizations will gather at the meeting, which is organized by Japan International Cooperation Agency in partnership with the Moroccan government, UN Environment Program, UN Human Settlements Program and Japan's city of Yokohama.

The three-day meeting will offer an opportunity for the participants to share experiences on waste management and look into the best ways to fight littering and garbage heaps in African cities in a bid to boost tourism, reduce diseases and improve environment.

Established in 2017 by the Maputo Declaration, the African Clean Cites Platform seeks to promote the public-private partnership to help advance the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
