ASADABAD, Afghanistan, June 26 (Xinhua) -- At least six civilians and seven insurgents have been killed in two separate U.S. and NATO-led coalition airstrikes in eastern Afghanistan, authorities said Tuesday.

In one attack, six civilians and four Taliban insurgents were killed after an unmanned plane of the coalition forces struck a house in Darwazgai, Waygal district of eastern Nuristan province Monday night, head of the provincial council Saadullah Payenda told Xinhua.

He said a group was visiting an injured Taliban fighter before the house was targeted at around 11:00 p.m. Monday.

In neighboring Kunar province, three Islamic State (IS) militants were killed in another similar attack in Hazar Bagh area of Wata Pour district on Monday afternoon, the press office of 202 Shamshad Police Zone based in the region said in a statement.

The Afghan security forces, alongside U.S. and NATO-led coalition troops, have increased ground and air offensives against militants in the past few months as the militants frequently attack government interests across the country.?
