RIYADH, May 25 (Xinhua) -- The Saudi air forces intercepted on Friday a ballistic missile launched from Yemen toward the southern border city of Najran, Saudi Press Agency reported.

The interception came just a day after the forces destroyed another missile targeting the southern border city of Jazan.

In both cases, no injuries or damage were reported.

Col. Turki al-Maliki, spokesman of the Saudi-led coalition fighting Houthi rebels in Yemen, said the missile was detected at 12:39 a.m. local time (2139 GMT) while it was still inside Yemen.

The hostile attempts of the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen threaten regional and international security in explicit defiance of UN resolutions, he warned.

In another statement, the Saudi spokesman said the humanitarian aid delayed by cyclone is expected to reach the Yemeni city of Socotra on Friday morning, Al Arabiya local news reported.

The Saudi-led coalition has been fighting Houthis in Yemen for more than three years in support of the exiled Yemeni government.
