YANGON, May 6 (Xinhua) -- A national-level political dialogue for Myanmar's Mon ethnic people is underway in Ye, Mon state to discuss issues on establishing a federal union, the official Global New Light of Myanmar reported Sunday.

The three-day dialogue, which began on Saturday, comes after the New Mon State Party (NMSP) armed group signed the government's Nationwide Ceasefire Accord (NCA) on Feb. 13.

Four sectors are being discussed in groups, covering proposals on the fundamental principles of the political sector, social sector, federal economy and farmland and environment sector.

Attending the political dialogue are 500 representatives concerned.

NMSP, along with the Lahu Democratic Union, signed the NCA with the government in Nay Pyi Taw on Feb. 13, bringing the total of such signatories to 10 since the first signing with the prior eight armed groups in 2015.

The two signatories will join the upcoming third meeting of the 21st Century Panglong Peace Conference slated for the last week of May.

Following the 2015 initiation of the NCA, the 21st Century Panglong Peace Conferences were held twice during the incumbent government in August 2016 and May 2017, respectively.
