WASHINGTON, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) -- U.S. Vice President Mike Pence will lead the U.S. delegation to the 2018 Winter Olympics Games which is to be held in PyeongChang, , next month, said the on Wednesday.
U.S. President Donald Trump informed his South Korean counterpart Moon Jae-In of the decision during their phone call earlier in the day, according to a White House statement.
On a phone call with Moon in late November, Trump promised to send a high-level U.S. delegation to the Winter Games.
The PyeongChang games, slated from Feb. 9-25, gained extra spotlight as the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (), after its talks with South Korea over the past two years, agreed to send a delegation to participate in the events.
