SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- U.S. aircraft giant Boeing promised Wednesday to invest 300 million more U.S. dollars in workforce training and facilities upgrading shortly after Congress approved a sweeping tax cut earlier in the day.

The Seattle-based aircraft company said that of the 300 million dollars, 100 million dollars will be for corporate giving, with funds used to support demand for employee gift-match programs and for investments in Boeing's focus areas for charity, such as in education and communities, and for veterans and military personnel.

Another 100 million dollars will go to workforce development in the form of training, education and the development of other capabilities to meet the scale needed for rapidly evolving technologies and expanding markets, Boeing said in a press release.

It added that the remaining 100 million dollars will be used for "workplace of the future" facilities and infrastructure enhancements for Boeing employees.

The U.S. House of Representatives on Wednesday passed a revised Republican bill, which cleared the Senate Tuesday midnight, to overhaul the U.S. tax code over three decades amid concerns that the tax change would widen income inequality and swell public debt.

However, President Donald Trump called the passage of the 1.5 trillion dollar tax overhaul Wednesday a "historic victory for the American people."
